Andrew Wycisk is a mobile puck-moving defenceman who plays for the GTHL’s Vaughan Kings. His skating abilities are the first thing that you notice about Wycisk’s game. He plays a fast-paced style when he has the puck on his stick and can fly up the boards in a second. He reaches top speed very quickly making him a dangerous player when joining the rush.

Wycisk doesn’t sacrifice defence for offence which is very important and not always the case for speedy defencemen such as himself. He knows where to position himself and when it would be beneficial for him to join the rush. In the offensive zone he sticks back making sure that he is available to receive passes at the blue-line. When the opposition is on the rush, Wycisk is quick to follow the play and maintain strong positioning. He is one of the fastest on the ice at skating backwards and can get back to the defensive zone very quickly.

Wycisk is not the biggest defender and needs to work on getting stronger. With the puck on his stick in his own zone, Wysick uses his skating abilities to his advantage as he is able to make quick turns to get past attackers and make space for himself to pass the puck out or to clear the puck from the defensive zone. The Kings defenceman does a good job dishing the puck to his teammates
