Derks is a terrific athlete, able to make quick movements on the puck and rob offensive players from scoring chances on a nightly basis. Derks has a phenomenal side to side game, able to make use of his length and can get from one post to the other in the blink of an eye. An individual that definitely has the “clutch gene” Derks is not afraid when the lights shine brightest. Derks embraces big game scenarios and makes outstanding plays to ensure his team leaves victorious. Derks is able to make great reads on the offences sets and positions himself well to take away shooting lanes. Derks is always up for a challenge, taking pleasure in playing in tough matchups with some of the ETAs strongest offensive teams.
