A bully on the ice, Ethan Wallace takes no prisoners when he comes on for his shift. A commanding force on the ice, Wallace uses his size well and makes opposing players pay dearly when entering the defensive zone. Wallace embraces the physical aspect of the game. Often found fighting in the corners or along the wall, Wallace is always ready to muck it up and do the dirty work for his team. Wallace has tremendous physical strengths, but his stick skills defensively are also superb. Wallace excels at cleanly poking/stripping the puck off of offensive players and can quickly turn these turnovers into scoring chances for his team. Wallace has a fantastic hockey IQ, able to read the ice well and position himself to make effective plays on both sides of the puck. Wallace has a solid first pass, able to hit his linemates with a hard tape to tape feeds with accuracy. With a nose for the puck, Wallace makes hard plays on the puck carrier, able to cause disruption and come away with the puck as a result. With this determination Wallace is also effective in the offensive zone, able to find the open areas of the ice and deliver a hard shot after tracking the puck. A strong player on special teams, Wallace is equipped to play effectively on both the powerplay as well as the penalty kill. With his mixture of strength, shot power, passing skill, and defensive ability, he can provide valuable minutes whenever his name is called. Wallace still has room to grow skill wise, as he somewhat relies on his size and strength to bail him out of tough situations. Wallace needs to develop his speed as he can struggle to stop players on the back check if he is caught out of position. Wallace has a strong passion for the game, a great learner, always keeping his head up and his ears open, ready to go to work and become the best player possible. Wallace is rapidly improving, becoming one of the top defencemen prospects in the upcoming OHL Draft class. With his sky high ceiling, natural athleticism, and hard work ethic, Ethan Wallace could be the real deal at the next level.
