A devastatingly huge defenseman, right shooting Aidyn Urbach plays big. Urbach, like many defenders his size, utilizes his massive frame to lay devastating hits, and utilizes his physicality to make it a very difficult playing field for his opponents every night. What makes Urbach unique however, is his skating, which is extremely strong when compared to most. Urbuach’s competitiveness also works to make him a very difficult player to go up against night in and night out. Urbach is a player who is able to hit all the right marks, and does all the little, technical things extremely well. He is a very reliable player in his own zone, and is great at blocking pucks and making the first pass out of the zone, generating offense in the process either through the initial pass or his strong shot. Urbach is a very coachable and respectful player, and is constantly working hard to be the best he can be, he is constantly looking to learn more. Urbach could use some work in his decision making, in the sense of rushes and passes, and deciding when to jump in or make the pass, and when not to. With the 2022 OHL draft coming up, expect Urbach to go to the mid to lower rounds, though his right handedness and immense size could help to raise his stock. At the OHL level, Urbach could be utilized in a defensive/two-way role, where he can pitch in offensively, while focusing primarily on what is happening in his own zone. Urbach is at the size where he can go toe to toe with the average OHLer in a match of physicality, so he could crack a roster sooner than you may think.
