One of the most dangerous snipers in Alliance hockey, Atley Rogers offers an OHL calibre wrist shot with a bit of a gritty edge as well. His wicked wrist shot is a defining feature of Atleys game, it’s hard and unlawfully accurate, if he sees any room in the net you can bet he’s putting it there. The release on his shot is very quick and he changes angles and keeps his head up looking around making it very difficult for goalies to predict when he’s going to shoot and where the puck is going. He has silky smooth hands as well and loves to throw a deke on opposing defenders to create odd-man rushes and breakaways with his speed. Talking about his speed his skating is above average and very smooth, he can blow right by a majority of the league with ease. Atley is a solid passer and because he keeps his head up he’s always finding passing lanes which makes him an effective playmaker as well. He is very gritty and loves to play a physical game, he consistently forechecks and battles very hard in the corners to get the puck. His positioning in the offensive zone is very good for a sniping winger as he tries to find an opening in the defence to get the puck and put it in the net. Around the league, he’s been compared to a Matthew Tkachuk or Brad Marchand play style. Very dynamic offensively but loves to hit and get other opponents' skin. As a young developing player, he is still working on becoming a full 200-foot player however he is no liability in his own zone and often uses great hand-eye coordination to bat down pucks out of the air and get them out of his zone. Something he’s really good at in his own zone is remaining calm with the puck and trusting his skill to use his speed, hands and passing skills to get it out while under pressure. As a player, he is very receptive to advise he is given by coaches, trainers and teammates as he is constantly trying to become the best hockey player he can become. As he continues to grow and add strength he’s just going to get better. Watch for him to go in the middle rounds of his draft class and become an effective OHL player one day.
