Quinte Red Devils
Right Shooting Ben Danford is one of the better defensemen in the 2022 OHL draft. Comparable to someone like Ryan Ellis or Victor Hedman, Danford is an amazing defenseman in both the offensive and the defensive zone. Danford is described as probably being one of the best defensemen in the Eastern AAA Hockey Association, ranking somewhere amongst the top 3. Night after night, Danford will go out and play a 20 minute game, where he will consistently face off against some of the best players that the ETA has to offer, and has no issue with it at all. Danford is a strong skating defenseman with great footwork, and also brings good vision and a great ability to feed his teammates the puck. Danford also brings leadership to his team every night, serving as one of Quinte’s two co-captains with fellow ETA superstar, Jared Langdon. The dedication that Danford displays on and off the ice is second to none, and he can be frequently found out on the ice, working on his skills, whenever the opportunity arises. The biggest thing Danford really has to look at improving on is his physical play and aggressiveness. Going in and winning battles in the defensive zone is a big part of being a defenseman, so if Danford continues to improve on this, while also honing his other skills, he could develop very well. OHL wise, Danford will most likely go in the earlier rounds, and could develop into a solid two-way defender for the club that selects him. Keep an eye out, because this coming year, Danford will be looking to solidify himself as an OHL draft selection.
