Currently serving as the Team Illinois captain, right shooting defenseman, Connor Bewick definitely brings a leadership aspect to the team. Bewick is a very humble and hardworking player, and certainly leads by example with his solid play and his good attitude. Bewick is very poised with the puck and is a very good skater who sees the ice extremely well. For most of his career, Bewick has been more of a pure shutdown defender, however he’s begun to work on his offensive game as well and is constantly improving it. Bewick is a very complete player, already having a pretty strong two way game, and has been able to transition to play forward if it is required of him. Bewick is a strong defender, and could make a case for the 2022 OHL draft. Bewick already has a strong two way style and is constantly improving it with no glaring issues on his play. He could go on to develop into a solid defender that can lock it up in his own zone while chipping in offensively as well. Due to his defensive game, Bewick could probably find himself on one of the penalty killing units as well. While he is an American player, and has the chance to possibly pursue the NCAA instead, that shouldn’t stop many teams from taking out a page on Bewick and selecting him at the draft. Certainly a good defenseman to take a look at as the draft draws near.
