A strong two way defenseman, right shooting Evan Simos is a player who can play on both his strong and weak sides with ease. Simos brings a solid shutdown style to his game when he is in his own zone, but is primarily an offensive minded defenseman. Simos plays the game with absolutely no fear at all, and is willing to lay it all on the line to block a shot, move a player away from the net, or make a beautiful breakout play. Simos’ passing ability is top notch, and extremely accurate. Simos is also extremely patient with the puck and is able to see the ice very well. Simos is a strong skater with great edge work, allowing for him to jump into the play, which is best displayed by a whopping 53 points in 50 games last season, while also being a +33 on the season in +/-. Of the skills Simos is working on, he sees it as everything could be improved on, and that there is always room to improve on the basic fundamentals of his game. Simos also plays elite lacrosse, but hockey has always come first. To add to Simos’ accolades, he is a very good student academically, and is able to get high marks in honours classes. Overall, Simos is a defenseman who should get some nods at the 2022 OHL draft, where he could not only be a good player, but a good student as well.
