A hardworking defender who just keeps getting better, Gabriel Carvahlo is quickly turning into a well-known defender in the GTHL. Gabriel is a great skating two-way defender who plays a consistent game. Gabriel’s skating is next level, it’s smooth and powerful with explosive strides that allow him to blow by opponents and be a force on the forecheck when pinching and on the backcheck. Gabriel uses his speed to overwhelm opponents and in transition can easily lead the rush and go end to end for great goals. His agility allows him to pull off quick deke moves and throw opponents off. In his own zone, Carvahlo is a reliable defender who wins battles everywhere because of his smarts. In the corners, he uses next-level footwork and smart physicality to come out with the puck more often than not. With the puck in his own zone, he remains poised and relaxed making the smart play instead of turning it over. In the offensive zone, Carvahlo is still working on his shot but possesses the smarts to be effective as he cycles the puck and generates space for his teammates. His playmaking ability is above average and as his shot develops with strength and size he will become a very dangerous player both with and without the puck. As Gabriel Carvahlo continues to fill out and develop the future looks very bright for this young defender.
