A defenceman with great size and length, Isaac Holt has a high upside. Holt has a great sense for the game, able to read plays well and make effective moves to put his team in a position to win. Holt has a great shot from the point, able to rifle the puck through traffic and find the back of the net. Holts shot is a major asset for him as he becomes a threat each time he pushes the puck up the ice in transition. Holt is a solid playmaker able to find the open man well and make clean passes across the ice. With a good first pass, Holt is able to stretch the puck down the ice and generate quick breakaway chances for his linemates. Holt has great size which allows him to make hard checks in open ice, take up space in the defensive zone, and can keep the puck on his stick when facing oncoming pressure. Holt may not have optimal physical strength at this point, but as he matures physically he will be able to add some muscle and could develop into a legitimate force in the defensive zone. Another area Holt needs to improve in is his footwork. As of right now, Holt can sometimes have difficulties on the back check as well as making quick cuts when changing direction. With some focused training on this ability Holt will become a more complete player. Aside from these few areas of improvement, Holt still has a ton of potential. With impressive size, and a great mind for the game, Isaac Holt could be a big time player at the next level.
