Right shooting defenseman, Jax Alonzo, is no stranger to the ice, and has been skating since the young age of 3. This past season was Alonzo’s 2nd at the AAA level, putting up a respectable 9 goals and 20 assists for a total of 29 points as a defenseman. Alonzo has had the privilege of wearing the A over those two seasons, and is looked at by his coaches and teammates as a natural leader. Alonzo is a very skilled skater with phenomenal edge work, and also brings great vision and passing abilities to the table. As well as this, Alonzo plays a very physical game, despite his size, and has actually put someone through the boards on one occasion. If asked, most players would most likely say that Alonzo is their least favourite player to go up against, due to his IQ and physicality. Alonzo is continuing to work on his shot and hands, two things that will only get better with time. Alonzo has also had the ability to be coached under former NHL defenseman, Joe Corvo, who has only been able to supply him with more tips and tricks for the future. Moving forward, Alonzo could look like a pretty promising defensive prospect, being able to play a solid 2 way game, and dominate the game on a physical scale. Only time will tell, but this imposing defenseman could find himself an OHL club in 2022
