A textbook grinder, Joshua Penney drains the life out of any player he is matched up against. Penney plays a physical brand of hockey, never shying away from contact in any situation on the ice. Penneys affinity to physicality makes him a threat defensively as he makes his presence known to top forwards that enter his zone. Penney does not rely only on physical contact, he is also strong at using his stick to make plays defensively. Penney is not all just physical, he has legitimate stick skills as well. Penney has fantastic hands, able to control the puck well in the offensive zone and can finish smoothly when crashing the net. Penneys hard working mentality drives him to make selfless plays to help his team win, as well as pushes himself in practice to grow into a complete player. Penney never takes a shift off, giving his all for the entire duration of all of his shifts. Penney will need to develop a more polished offensive game before entering into the next level of his career, but his intensity and physical play style is unmatched. Penney may not be the flashiest player entering this year's draft, but can be one of the most impactful players without the puck game in and game out.
