One of the higher ranked goalies for the 2022 OHL draft, Landon Simec has landed himself as an honourable mention on the top 50 prospects list. Simec is renowned for his fundamentally sound playstyle and his high end technical abilities. Simec displays very good positioning, which allows him to cut off a goalscoring opportunity before it gets the chance to be set up. Simec also has very effective lateral movement, which allows him to get across to make the crucial desperation saves if he does get caught. Despite his great lateral game, Simec is good at not relying too much on it, allowing his great positioning to do a lot of the work. Simec is a very coachable young goalie, and brings a positive attitude to the rink day in and day out, making him the type of goalie you’d want to have in the room. Simec is simply amazing, and serves as the backbone for the Jr. Colts roster, which will help improve his draft stock, as it truly proves how good Simec is. With the draft rolling up soon, expect Simec to rank highly amongst the goaltenders, and see him going in the earlier rounds of the draft. Simec has the potential to be an OHL caliber goalie, and very possibly a good one at that. Providing Simec sticks to his guns, he could serve as a crucial draft choice for a team who is in the goalie department. Keep your eyes on this goalie, because you may be seeing his name in the draft very soon.
