A very solid defenseman, left shooting Michael Schiavone is looking to be a very promising two-way defenseman prospect for the 2022 OHL draft. While being more defensive in nature, Schiavone is heavily relied upon by his team in many scenarios thanks to his steady defensive game. Offensively, Schiavone is both skilled and a great skater overall. Because of this skill, Schiavone is able to pot a decent amount of goals and can contribute to his team's offensive output. Providing Schiavone continues to work heavily on his offensive skillset and his skating, he could possibly develop to be similar to his favorite player, Morgan Rielly in an offensive sense, utilizing his speed and edgework to outskate his opponents and create offensive chances for his team. However, Schiavone should not toss out his defense in order to build offense and instead should continue to work on his game as a whole, allowing him to be a very serviceable two-way player, while possibly serving on the special teams units. With the OHL draft coming up soon, Schiavone could see himself around the middle rounds of the draft, where he could further develop his game and step into the OHL as a reliable defender after a year or two of development. Size isn’t necessarily a factor for Schiavone either, as he relies on his speed and skill to get the job done instead of his size, though an extra few pounds wouldn’t hurt. Regardless, expect to see Schiavone’s name pop up at the 2022 OHL draft.
