A big, thick defenseman, left handed Owen Protz, is one player that is making tracks. Being a bigger player, Protz is a strong defender, however, he also is pretty decent in the speed department. No where near the fastest, but not the slowest, which is why Protz is working on his footspeed so he will be able to keep up in the OHL. Protz sees the ice very well, and has a physical edge to his game from time to time. As well as this, Protz loves to join the rish, making him a very valuable asset to his team on the offensive side of the game. OHL wise, Protz could find himself going sometime in the mid rounds of the 2022 draft, where he could continue to work on his speed, as well as put his size to work as he continues to grow. With this, Protz could end up turning into a very tough, offensive minded defenseman, who can make beautiful, crisp plays, as well as helping the offense out by jumping into the rush. While it is certainly too soon to tell how Protz will turn out at the next level, if he can work on his skating to keep up in the OHL, he could be a rather solid pick for whichever club chooses to select him.
