After posting a 2.08 Goals Against Average in 17 games last season, Rowen Cherrett is starting to cement himself as one of the top goalies for the 2022 OHL draft. Cherrett is everything you want in a #1 goalie, he’s calm, he’s collected, and he can come up big when it matters most. Cherrett has been known to show up at his best in the playoffs, and regardless of the score, he cannot be shaken. He is very well positioned, rarely ever having to make a second save while being extremely effective at stopping the first shot and challenging hard on the second shot. Cherrett has great feet and moves very well in his net. He also seems to have a natural ability at being able to tell where everyone is on the ice at all times. The most important thing for Cherrett to work on is the same as practically any goalie of this age group, he needs to come out of his net and play the puck more. Playing the puck helps the defence a lot and can turn defence into offence much easier. If Cherrett continues to grow, as well as bulk up, he will be a solid goalie selection, most likely in a mid to late round due to him being a goalie. With the likes of his teammates drawing a ton of attention, Cherrett is bound to also turn some heads when the scouts come to Grey-Bruce.
