Ryan Ellis is a player who trains hard all year long. Ellis is a very fast player, with great outside speed for burning defensemen up the wing. He is a player that is also capable at playing the game well at his high speeds, being very good at keeping the tempo and the pace going throughout the game, a skill that a lot of higher end players tend to possess. Ellis is described as a player that could most likely develop into a power forward, using his speed and size to dictate a game, and using that ability to keep the tempo and pace up to his advantage. As it currently stands, Ellis is working on both his decision making, as well as his puck management when traveling at high speed. Both are excellent things to work on, given that his skill set mainly revolves around his speed. At the OHL level, Ellis could see himself developing into a very shifty winger, who can drive the play, and utilize his great speed to beat the defenders along the boards, before cutting in front for a goal or a passing opportunity. Ellis could be a great match up against slower defensemen and could take advantage of them easily, but only if he continues to work on his skills further as the draft looms ever so closer.
