Right shooting winger, Ryker van Spriel, is one of the top players for the Junior Gaels. Van Spriel is an offensive threat when he is on the ice, with his electric speed and ability to score, this energetic young winger is capable of putting a game in check. Van Spriel is a coach's dream, he will look you in the eyes when you talk to him, even if you’re being hard on him, and he works very hard and is always looking to improve. He is a multisport player, and can be found frequently working out in the gym, an excellent quality to have as working out will have to become a staple of his routine if he wants to go further in his hockey career. Despite being pretty decent on the penalty kill, van Spriel could benefit greatly from working on his defensive positioning, which could help turn him into a pretty solid two-way player, who can utilize his speed on both the offensive and defensive sides of the game to help his team. With the 2022 OHL draft approaching more and more each day, van Spriel will have to continue to work as hard as he can, where he could possibly transition into a good two-way winger, who can put his shooting to work in the O-Zone, while working on his defensive positioning to help lock down the D-Zone, using his speed to break out of the zone with ease.
