Blair Scott is a very special defenseman. Scott utilizes his large frame and force to invite and participate in physical play. He enjoys the thrill of playing physical. Blair demonstrates the right attitude and dedication for the game. Blair is very defensive-minded, making him a natural shutdown defender that is able to make good decisions with the puck. Rather than making risky plays, Blair will slow the game down and give his team more time to do what they should be doing in the D zone. Though Blair is a strong skater, he doesn’t often take advantage of open ice and take off with the puck. It would be great to see Blair use his skating more when he has the puck because he has the capability to drive traffic, but he needs to trust himself to do so. This is something he is working to improve this season while working with his new defensive pairing, who is opposite in this sense. Once Scott is able to gain more confidence and join the rush, he will become a solid two-way player that will be ready to take on the next step.
