If you're looking for someone who is always fun to be around and a great team player then look no further then Joey Costanzo. As a goaltender, it may be hard to think of Costanzo as a team-first player but it's the things that you don’t always see on the ice that really stand out from his game. He prides himself on his love for his teammates and the way he conducts himself on the ice. He is always the first to praise his teammates and a natural source of inspiration as well as motivation on his team. He is a leader on and off the ice and always lets his teammates know when they do a good job to help him out. He strives to be a leader both with his play on t and off the ice. He’s the kind of player who can settle into a locker room quickly and once he does, he is instantly going to be a team favorite. Costanzo plays hockey to have fun and it's noticeable on the ice. He likes to bring his personality into the game.

Costanzo loves pressure and it is in those intense situations where his game is at it’s best. He rarely looks fazed in between the pipes and plays a calm and technical game. His calmness and composure in the crease helps calm those around him as well as aid in his play. Shooters know that it is not going to be easy to get Costanzo to bite on the play as he is very patient. He is not one to get beaten easily and is a hard goalie to read. He plays a modern, butterfly style which is complimented by his athleticism.
