The backstop for the Toronto Jr. Canadiens has helped the team become one of the most feared in the GTHL. Joshua Branton is a smart goaltender who gives it everything he has every time he is on the ice. The energy that he comes into the game with every game is exactly what coaches want to see. He’s always dialled into the game and lives for making big saves.

Branton is an athletic goaltender who can make highlight reel saves every game. He is flexible and possesses great speed and can stun opposing forwards with quick and acrobatic stops. Branton does a good job tracking the puck and moves across the net really quickly. He can make the quickest of rebound saves to rob opposing players and performs well when there is traffic in front of the net. Branton also has a strong glove hand which he constantly uses to flash the letter to stop his opponents.

To succeed at the next level, Branton still has areas of his game that require improvement. For starters his rebound control. While he has the athleticism required to save most rebounds and stop loose pucks, he often causes his own rebounds by not controlling the puck. Even shots that he is expected to have control over oftentimes wobble out of his chest. If Branton can improve his puck control and give up less rebounds, he has the athleticism and mentality needed to make it to the next level.
