Luka Benoit has been playing hockey for the past ten years and is a playmaker who skates and handles the puck very well. These playmaking abilities allow him to see the ice better than most and his vision shows off his increased hockey IQ. Benoit is currently looking to improve his overall strength and his shot. To improve these aspects of his game, he has been doing skill sessions and training at home and the gym whenever he can to improve his physicality and skills. He also does a fitness program to continue building on this strength and endurance. After playing Major Bantam AAA with Ottawa Myers Automotive, Benoit made the transition to the Nepean Raiders U18 AAA team for this season. He compares himself to Brady Tkachuk based on his playing style as he is an aggressive player who drives to win every puck battle he can, and is an effective skater with above average puck handling abilities. Benoit stresses a focus on both ends of the ice and the importance of backchecking to support your team on defence. Benoit’s goal for the future is simple. Play in the OHL and continue his playing career for as long as he can. He shows dedication to the game that few can boast about taking over four hours to prepare on a game day. If he can continue to focus and further improve his game, he has the potential to make it to the next level that he is pushing for, major junior hockey.
