One of the best netminders in the ETA, Matthew Martel is a spectacular talent. Martel has been a consistently superb player for several seasons and it's no secret why, Martel has the ability to see the play before it happens. Martel is always one step ahead of the opposition and makes jaw dropping saves on a regular basis. Martel is as reliable between the pipes as they come, never found having an off night. Martel is an excellent leader on the ice, able to communicate well with the defence and can help start plays out of the defensive zone for his team. Martel may not be the biggest goalie, but what he lacks in size and length he more than makes up for in his speed and athleticism. Martel makes lightning fast movements while tracking the puck, able to go post to post in the blink of an eye. Martel is top to bottom a phenomenal player, with great rebound control, solid glove and blocker sides, he can truly do it all. Martel will likely be one of the first goaltenders off the board in the upcoming 2021 OHL Draft and has the potential to become a special player down the line.
