Intelligent winger, Matthew Soto, is constantly moving. He has an impressive work ethic and always wants to be on the ice and working to get stronger. Soto’s mind was not only built for the sport, but also for the athlete lifestyle as he goes through a never-ending cycle of skate, gym, play, repeat. Matthew is the type of player where if you need his assistance, he will already be aware of what needs to be done. His understanding of the game is outstanding so when he is given a task, he has no problem carrying it out. He has an elite hockey IQ and is able to quickly read and anticipate plays. Zone entries are a specialty, as with his strong puck control skills he is able to keep possession in the neutral zone easily when he is on the ice and seems to rarely give up the puck in the area. Although Soto isn’t the fastest skater, he has great agility.  Soto uses his agile stride to create time and space for himself so that he can make unpredictable plays. To match his skilled footwork, he is working to improve his acceleration to gain a higher top speed. Soto is a skilled playmaker that has the ability to create more takeaways than most. On top of all of this, Soto is a great finisher, and can be a goal-scorer whose shot power will only increase. The fact that Soto plays strongly in every zone is terrifying for the opposing OHL teams who will have to face him in the future.
