OAKVILLE RANGERS
Owen Outwater is a solid two-way forward with an extremely high hockey IQ. Owen has consistently demonstrated this as he continues to prove that he is an elite offensive. Although he has spent many years as a center he has quickly developed over the last few years into a winger and is excelling as a strong 200ft player. Being able to play each forward position effectively is a big deal for Outwater as being able to diversify his skill set all across the ice makes it easy to fit him into a lineup. It is pretty shocking a player of his size did not use this to his advantage until recently because he already excels as a two-way forward. Although he hasn’t always been as engaged physically in the game as he is today, he has shown to be on a consistent path of improvement while he strengthens his skills and learns to use his body to protect the puck. With a player like Outwater, it is clear to see that he is developing quickly and if he continues to improve this quickly, a high ceiling is likely, but how high that ceiling goes we won’t know until we see how he learns to use these new skills. If he continues with his strength development, it is likely Outwater will turn into a two-way/power forward hybrid in the OHL.
