An incredibly smart player who does all the little things Blake Elzinga is a player every team wants. Starting in the offensive zone Blake has wonderful positioning and frequently finds weak points in opponents' defence to exploit. He has a solid left-handed shot that's both hard and accurate while also obtaining the ability to make crisp and accurate passes. He forechecks hard yet does not over commit and stays back to defend the rush when he needs to. He reads developing plays very well in his own zone. He gets into shooting and passing lanes consistently as well as supports his defenders down low in the zone. He wins puck battles in corners and battles hard to get the puck out of his own zone. Blake plays both the powerplay and penalty kill for his team and can play them both well. Blakes skill really comes down to the little things most young players forget to do. He angles off opponents better then most, he rarely makes mental lapses or gives the puck away. He seems to always be in the right spot and creates his own luck. Blake is known as a very hard worker who finds what he needs to work on without being told and is very open to criticism and coaching,as he tries to become the best hockey player he can be. As he continues to develop, Blake Elzinga has the potential to be a very effective two-way forward at the next level
