A U18 first year player, Braxton Bennett has quickly asserted himself as a solid goaltender in the HEO U18. For Bennett, hockey runs in the family, as his father played professionally in the ECHL during the 2000s. Being amongst the youngest goalies in the league, Bennett has been able to adapt to the quickness and skill of the older level very well, which will make him an alluring draft choice at the 2022 OHL draft. Bennett plays a hybrid style, which helps him play well in both the standup and butterfly styles of game, which are helped by his speed in the crease, his quick hands, his rebound control, and his puck to eye coordination, which is top notch compared to other goaltenders. Bennett is in peak physical condition, which enables his high endurance, allowing him to play a full 60 minutes without getting too burnt out. For Bennett, his work ethic during practice will help him make the jump to the next level, which when coupled with his growth, will only make him more and more valuable. Being able to fill out more and tack on a few extra inches will be important for Bennett, as it will allow him to fill out more of the net, limiting scoring chances through both size and speed.
