A big, offensive minded defenseman, Callum Cheynowski prides himself on his ability to put up high point totals despite being a blue liner. Cheynowski displays amazing puck moving abilities, allowing him to make a very effective first pass out of the zone, helping to push the offense forward while making sure he is defensively responsible at the same time. Cheynowski is a player that, for a lack of better terms, plays well every game. He features on the teams first power play unit, where again, he puts his offensive prowess to good use, generating chances for his team throughout the length of the penalty. Cheynowski also wears an A on his jersey, a sign of developing leadership, which happens to be a trait Cheynowski prides himself on greatly, as he tries to be a good leader for his team both on and off the ice. Cale Makar is probably a similar comparable for Cheynowski, with both being very good offensively, fast, and can still pitch in on the defensive end of the game as well. With the 2022 OHL draft drawing near, Cheynowski’s offensive prowess could help him get drafted somewhere in the high-mid to middle rounds of the draft, where he could step into an OHL role as an offensive producer within a couple seasons, providing his development goes well. Over the course of the season, Cheynowski should continue to hone his offensive skills further, as they will be what helps to push him forward at the next level.
