Offensive defensmen are crucial to a team's success, being able to have a blue line weapon is important especially when you need a goal, Dylan Woulds is exactly that. In the offensive zone, Dylan has a great hard and accurate shot from the point. He keeps it low to allow for it to be deflected and create rebounds. He combines that skill with an excellent passing ability, this allows him to be a dual threat and always keeps an option open. This dual threat is often combined with his very strong skating abilities and clean edgework. This allows him to create room for himself and his teammates and get into the slot with ease. Dylan forechecks hard and isn’t afraid to pinch however he also plays a solid defensive game. With good gap control and stick placement he is good at breaking up odd man rushes and defending one on ones. He gets in the way of shooting and passing lanes and isn’t afraid to sacrifice his body to block a shot. He will not hesitate before going to the dirty areas of the ice and clearing the puck out. When he has the puck in his own zone, he stays calm and collected looking at all his options before making a strong first pass out to his forwards. As Dylan continues to develop, he has all the tools to be an effective offensive defender at the next level.
