One of the best centremen in the ETA, Ethan Toms recently ranked amongst the top 50 OHL prospects for the 2022 draft. Toms displays a complete 200 foot game, making him an extremely well rounded player that can be utilized on both the PK and PP. Toms is well known for his elite, OHL grade shot, which has helped him blast his way to the top of the ETA leaderboard. Toms is a player who is capable of crunching heavy minutes throughout a game, making him an extremely reliable center to keep on hand. Toms displays a very strong physical game as well, being a less flashy and dashy player, and more of a bowl towards the net, using his size to shrug away his opponents. This has helped land him a comparable similar to that of Connor McMichael, which is some pretty elite OHL talent to be compared to. Toms has a more outgoing personality and is known for being an extremely hard worker overall. Toms would best benefit from working on the little details of his game, to help better round off his game more than it already is. With the draft approaching, expect to see Toms going in the first 3 rounds of the draft, where he could step into the OHL either immediately or a year out. Regardless, Toms’ playstyle will help suit him just fine in the OHL, and he can use this to become a true OHL power forward, who can crash and bang his way to the net, while also being able to dominate the game over the entire surface of the ice.
