Left shooting defenseman, Frankie Marrelli, has been described by many as the best defenseman in the ETA, and was the best defenseman at the OMHA’s. Marrelli is a hyper competitive player, who can skate well as well as shoot. Though he may be smaller when compared to most defenders, Marrelli is very strong and tough. Marrelli is a player who always wants the puck, and will work relentlessly to get it back if it is lost. While it is way too soon to tell, Marrelli may end up growing to be a stockier defender at full size, hanging around the 6’0, 190 lb range, making him an effective, physical presence on the blue line. Marrelli has been good enough that he has had the ability to skate with current OHLers, as well as get calls from the GTHL, however he has opted to stay in Markham with the players he has spent his young career with up until this point. He has also been stated to be a good kid. OHL wise, Marrelli could develop into a tough, strong defender, with upside at both ends of the rink and a bit of a physical edge. Marrelli can continue to work on his skills more as the draft approaches, and possibly cement himself as a top end talent for the 2022 OHL draft class.
