Though he is smaller, Gunner Kirk is an absolute unit on and off the ice. Kirk is a bit of a gym rat, and has already moved up to benching 220 lbs, which has helped add to his play style. Kirk is a rough and tumble forward who excels thanks to his strong, hard hitting game, proving that the little guy can stand up for himself just as much as the next. This style has also helped Kirk greatly, as it allowed him to play with the U18 squad for a brief stint as well, where even though he never played, he still got some recognition. Kirk is someone that has the ceiling to play at the next level, where he can utilize his hard hitting nature to the max, with him being one of those players that could fill into a 5’9 185 lbs kind of build, serving as a bottom 6 checker. Kirk could use some work on his hockey sense, as sometimes he will take things that he learned years ago and won’t let go of them, even though they don’t work. Though this can be corrected through some hard work between Kirk and the team who drafts him. With the 2022 OHL draft coming up, Kirk will likely go in the lower rounds, but he could serve as a solid young prospect with some solid upside for sure. It will simply be a wait and see process, as Kirk will likely be more of a project player, versus someone who can step in immediately.
