Jace McGrail is a talented and physical defender. Jace uses his strength to play physically and consistently win puck battles. His fearlessness should translate well if he is able to keep his physicality moving forward. Jace is a fluent skater that uses his edges well and is able to gain speed to breakaway when an opening is presented. He has a heavy shot and quick release that is accurate and deceptive. Alongside his skill, McGrail is a leader and has been named captain for his team the last three seasons. He is an effective communicator that is able to motivate his team while leading by example. On the ice, Jace is working on developing his patience, specifically in the offensive zone so that he can allow a play to develop rather than making a rushed pass. McGrail is a strong leader both on and off the ice and once he is able to slow his mind down, he should be able to continue being a strong defender in the OHL.
