Jacob Brown is the stereotypical, new age, blocker style goalie. Brown is one of the top goaltenders in the ETA, and that can be seen in his play. He is a bigger goalie, standing at around 6’1, which is already OHL size. He moves very well laterally in his net, and utilizes his blocker a fair bit. He is described as a great teammate who is fairly quiet, but he is known to come up big when his team needs him to. Brown has also played up a year a few times, so he is no stranger to bigger players. The biggest thing for Brown to work on is his puck handling ability. One note about Brown is that he is known to let the puck hit him and fall, and then letting the defensemen pick it up. He would heavily benefit from coming out of his net more to play the puck, while also passing it forward to turn defense into offense. The other big thing is to become a student of the game, and start figuring out the players more, whether it’s who the shooters are and who the passers are, so he can anticipate plays. Regardless, Brown could be a pretty solid goaltending prospect for an OHL club to take a pager on.
