A large, hardworking player, Jacob Brunton brings the power and the reliability. Brunton thrives in the physical aspect of the game, and will not pass up the opportunity to throw his body around to make a play. Brunton brings a complete 200 foot game, being able to make a solid play in the defensive zone, while finishing on it in the offensive zone. Brunton features on both the teams PK and PP units, and works in the offensive zone to make plays and create space for his teammates. Brunton best compares to a Ryan Getzlaf type of player, which is best displayed in his ability to lead by example. Brunton has the good habits of being the first one on and the last one off the ice at every practice, and will get on his teammates to keep up their intensity and pay attention to the small details like calling for pucks or making passes, to make sure they are the best possible players that can be. Brunton brings a positive attitude everywhere he goes, and will be the first player to try and get the team back in the game mentally. Brunton is confident about his ability to make the step to the next level, and with his development, believes he will be able to compete as he finds whichever role on the roster suits him the best. Brunton is working on his speed and acceleration greatly, while also working on his hands and puck control, which will only help his creative style even further. With the 2022 OHL draft coming up, expect Brunton to go earlier in the draft, where he could step in within a year. Brunton could serve as a heavy hitting, hardworking power forward type, who can create offense through his size, but also his creativity. This would make Brunton an excellent choice to slot in higher in the lineup, where he would be able to create space for the other stars. Brunton’s leadership ability should also be looked at, as he displays the type of mentality that could land him the captaincy for his OHL team later down the line.
