A newer addition to the Mission lineup, right shooting winger, Jake Merens, has extremely high offensive instincts. He is a very shifty, creative, and deceptive player who can create a lot of offensive chances. Merens is a player who can take nothing and turn it into something, and has an amazing game reading ability. He could work on his defensive play, and is also working on winning more puck battles. Merens is a good, humorous but respectful kid who lives for hockey. He is always a step ahead in his training, can always be found in the facilities, and is constantly improving. Merens is an interesting player to watch for the 2022 OHL draft, as his size could serve as a hindrance at the OHL level yet he has all the right skills that could help him succeed. If Merens grows, he could become a threatening player, and if not, he could always look to find newer, more creative ways around it and still try and find a way to crack a roster in the O. For now, it’s training and playing as usual for Merens.
