Jaksen Ward is one of the top 2006-born forward prospects in Alliance hockey. He is crafty, smart, and utilizes his teammates which creates a deadly offensive combination as well as being very effective in his own zone. Jaksen has a hard and accurate pass and a phenomenal shot which allows him to create scoring chances out of thin air. Going in depth on Jaksens shot, it is criminally accurate and he makes goalies pay when they leave a little room in the corners, however don’t let this confuse you, as he is very smart as he fools both defenders and goalies with shot passes as he’s always looking for a teammate with room. He uses an elite toe drag as a weapon as when he’s in the offensive zone he can use it to both get around opposing players and can shoot while doing it. He uses his high hockey IQ to take advantage of all situations which comes in handy as it seems as he always seems to have the puck on his stick. His skating is average but he uses his phenomenal hands to easily beat all who oppose him and he often wins 1 on 1 situations. Jaksen also plays a great two way game, he backchecks consistently and never takes a play off. He breaks up plays in his own zone and reads opponents well, getting into passing lanes and breaking up odd man rushes. People around him describe him as a complete player who is only going to get better as he physically matures. They also describe him as an outgoing and responsible player, even wearing an A for his team. As a player, he is actively working on improving in the faceoff dot as he has just recently transitioned from right wing to center and becoming a better skater. As he continues to develop and gets stronger, it is easy to say Jaksen Ward has the potential to be a difference maker in the OHL sooner, rather than later.
