Playing a year up is impressive, doing it as a goalie is even more impressive, yet Karsen Chartier isn’t just playing one year up he’s playing 4 years up being a U15 player playing in a U18 league as a goalie. This is largely due to his will, working hard to be the best goalie he can be no matter what. He treats practices like games and it shows. He never takes a game off and is always looking for ways to improve. He comes from a hockey family both his father and uncle playing in the OHL he’s dedicated to get there and hopefully get further than them. In the net he’s incredibly agile and makes saves most goalies wouldn’t stand a chance on. He moves side to side quickly and has gotten really good with positioning and knowing where his posts are. Karsen angles off opponents well and closes off the net with ease and forces the shooters to beat him. He is technically sound and drops to the butterfly quickly. He reads developing plays in front of him really well and predicts cross crease passes which gives him a chance to make breathtaking saves. He sees through screens and can make saves off tips. Though his rebound control is above average when he coughs up a poor rebound he has the ability to recover and make the save. Playing up an age bracket is only going to help him develop into the best goalie he can be, and at this rate the skys the limit for this promising goalie.
