Having appeared at the 2022 GTHL top prospects game, defenseman Lex Terrence is primed to make a run for a higher selection in the 2022 OHL draft. Terrence is unlike most of the other top defensemen from the GTHL that are available in the draft. Terrence is a more defense first player, focusing on being responsible in his own zone. Terrence has the ability to apply great pressure against opposing attackers, being able to force them to choke up the puck in the defensive zone. Terrence also has a very team first approach to his game, willing to do whatever it takes to push the team towards a win. Terrence tries to model himself off of Maple Leafs defenseman TJ Brodie, due to his not overly flashy style and defensive style. This style will help Terrence separate himself at the draft, as many teams may be in the market for a pure defensively minded defenseman. Terrence would benefit a lot from bulking up further, while continuing to build upon his defensive game. Regardless, Terrence will be able to put his style to good use, possibly projecting to being a second pair shutdown defender at the next level. Time will tell for Terrence, but if a team is willing to take out a ballot to draft this young defenseman, they will not be disappointed in the future.
