A highly skilled defenseman, Lucas Hihn best compares himself to Seth Jones or Victor Hedman. Hihn is one of those rare defensemen that is extremely mobile given his size, allowing him to be reliable at both ends of the ice with both his play and physicality. Hihn displays high offensive talent, with great hands and puck moving abilities. Hihn frequently jumps into the rush offensively, and is typically a name that you will hear a lot over the goal announcements, as he tends to be involved with many of the team's goals, which has helped him become the team's leading point getting defenseman. Defensively, Hihn is someone who walks the blue line very well, and in his own zone, he is good at blocking shots and making that ever so important breakout pass. Hihn is currently working hard on his skating and edge work, which will help to make him quicker on his feet, and thus more effective in all zones of the ice. This will also help to improve his defensive game, as his backwards skating could use a bit of work, and it would allow him to continue to cover back like he normally does. At the 2022 OHL draft, Hihn could see himself climbing up to the higher rounds of the draft, where he could develop into a very serviceable two-way defenseman that can play on the special teams units. Hihn could likely step into the OHL within a few seasons of his draft.
