Amongst the top when it comes to draft eligible players for the 2022 OHL draft, Marek Vanacker was able to crack in amongst the top 50 prospects. Vanacker is the type of player that is capable of drawing high praise from opposing coaches for his extremely high compete level. Vanacker has more of a power forward build, but he can’t quite be classed as one due to his very strong play making abilities. Vanacker is a natural goal scorer, and uses his great puck protection skills to get himself into the right places on the ice to get off a powerful shot. Vanacker is also someone who is willing to battle hard at the blue line throughout the game, helping to give his team an offensive edge. Vanacker is a very humble and hard working player, who just has an absolute love for the game. However, Vanacker could benefit greatly from working on his overall speed, as well as working to clean up his play in the defensive zone. Thanks to his invite to the Alliance All-Star game, Vanacker has continued to prove that he is one of the top players in his league, while also appearing in the OJHL with Brantford. With the draft coming up, Vanacker can see himself going in the higher rounds, and likely won’t slip past the third round. When he finally reaches the OHL level, he could become a very solid point producer both in goals and assists, while also working his hardest to give his team a chance to win every night. Keep your eye on Vanacker, he could be something very special.
