Most likely one of the defensemen going in the first round of the 2022 OHL draft, Zayne Parekh was amongst the top defensive scorers in the OHL cup, potting 8 points in 6 games, while also serving as his teams top scorer. Parekh is best compared to an Adam Fox type of player, being an amazingly offensive right handed defenseman, who brings tons of speed and excitement to his game. Parekh displays amazing on ice vision and IQ, which when coupled with his skating, makes him a lethal offensive presence. Parekh is typically a more fun loving guy in the dressing room, but when it really matters, he becomes more dialed in and serious. Parekh is currently working to fine tune his defensive game further, as well as his positioning in both zones. Parekh is very confident about making the jump to the next level and is ready for the transition, though he is going to be working harder than ever at the gym to ensure he is ready to go for training camp. Parekh will likely be coming off the board somewhere around the middle of the first round, where he could very likely challenge for a roster spot during training camp. From there, Parekh will very likely transition to become a top 4 defenseman in the OHL, where he can provide some much needed offense 5 on 5 and from the power play.
