Philip Caridi has a chance of going in the higher rounds of the 2021 OHL Priority Selection.  Caridi has a high level of speed and can assert himself physically to make an impact on the ice.  These two aspects of his game show that he is a natural power forward who is able to take advantage of these two strengths.  As a right-handed shooter on the left wing, Caridi uses his hockey sense to create chances and create space for himself to put himself in a great position to score and maximize his chances in the offensive zone.  Caridi’s physical play also allows him to win puck battles when he is needed, and this part of his game shows off his versatility as a power forward.  Caridi enters the zone at high speeds and drives to the net in the same fashion to maximize chances off the rush.  This speed can also be effectively used in his crossovers while in control of the puck.  Caridi possesses a strong shot off the crossover and uses this speed and physical play to produce scoring at a high rate.  Caridi has trained with OHL players, so he knows what it takes to succeed at the next level.  This display of balance, power, and edgework allows Caridi to control the puck well and his agility makes it difficult for defenders to contain him, and his deceptive shot can make it difficult for defenders to gauge Caridi when defending him.  Caridi’s confidence in himself will go a long way in his development and if he is able to continue at this rate, any team that picks him this year will be satisfied with their choice.
