A naturally driven player René Van Bommel loves to win and play hard. A fierce player who isn’t afraid to be anywhere on the ice he adds a physical edge despite his small stature. In the offensive zone René can be found in front of the net disrupting the goalie and battling for positioning. He battles hard to get sticks on pucks and finds a way to bang in rebounds. He forechecks hard and uses his smarts and agility to come out of the corners with the puck. René doesn’t possess a hard shot but as he grows and he’s expected to grow it will only get better with strength as it is already very accurate. He back checks hard and he uses angling to his advantage to catch opponents who are faster than him. His skating is very fluent however he lacks the power which similar to his shot will really come to develop as he grows. In the defensive zone he is responsible and always learning while trying to get better. René is one of the most passionate and evolving players in his age group, trying to get better with every second on the ice. He plays a solid 200 foot game and is a player every team should keep a close eye on going into his draft year.
