Right shooting defenseman, Ryan Santiago, has been described as one of the most improved players on the Mission roster over the last season. Santiago has once been a purely offensive defenseman, but has since worked on a defensive edge to his game as well. Despite this, he still has a huge offensive upside. Santiago is a hard competitor with a great shot, but is still currently developing all of his skills across the board. Santiago is a more outgoing member of his team, with a great sense of humour and is very respectful. He plays a solid game 1 on 1, but his passing could use some work. Along with this, Santiago is being encouraged to work on his ability to read the game, and to stop trying to force the play by himself. Overall, Santiago is a defenseman for the 2022 OHL draft who has tons of offensive prowess, and could be an attractive piece for most teams in his general ranked area. If Santiago can continue to work on his skills, he could develop into a decent piece for whoever drafts him, but for now, only time will tell. But one thing is for certain, Santiago certainly has a case to don one of the OHL teams’ jerseys come draft day.
