More of a project player, right shooting Sam Ethier, is certainly one to watch. Ethier is a player who has displayed huge amounts of untapped skill in practices, where he is capable of making very high skilled plays, but just doesn’t translate it to his game. This is largely due in part to Ethier being a hyper defensive player. Ethier is a giver and loves to set up his teammates, and also tends to prefer being the 3rd man high in a defensive position. Ethier is also very strong on his edges. Currently, he is working on his offensive game, and is being encouraged to abandon some of his defensive responsibility and take a chance offensively when he can. This means shooting more and attacking the net. If Ethier can start applying his skills to in-game scenarios, he could up his draft stock a lot, where he could go into the 2022 OHL draft as a pure 2 way forward. In the OHL, Ethier could end up going along to be a heavily defensive winger who can help on the offensive end as well, which could be used to surprise players who simply thought of him as a defensive player. As of right now, it is too soon  to tell where Ethier truly ranks, however, if he does work on his offensive game, while keeping a majority of his defensive game intact, he could end up being a solid pickup.
