Perhaps one of the most underrated players coming into the 2023 OHL draft, Ryan Gosse has been on a hot streak since starting the 2022/23 season! Out-producing some of the biggest names in the Alliance league, Gosse had been on absolute fire this season, being well over a point per game. While he is not necessarily the tallest player, Gosse is very stocky, and he uses this build to aid in his play. Gosse plays a similar game to Brad Marchand, being a smaller, two way player who can be relied on during any situation, whether it's the powerplay, penalty kill, or simply the first five minutes of the game. Gosse is extremely fast and very strong, making him extremely difficult to knock off the puck. Gosse has a complete 200 foot game, and has a very high defensive IQ, rarely getting scored on. Gosse has been trying to further augment his offensive game however, as he can tend to be a bit too defensive, and is thus working on utilizing his speed and identifying offensive opportunities, where he can utilize his complete offensive toolset to bury the puck. Gosse has also been working on getting back into the synch of playing center, and aims to improve on his ability to take faceoffs after playing a couple seasons at left wing. Gosse loves everything to do with the game, and has a very team first mentality. He is outgoing and well liked both on and off the ice. Over the off season, Gosse did a lot of dryland and skating to prepare himself for the season, and is dead set on making the OHL as soon as possible. Gosse is a player who will put in the effort and will work hard towards his goals. Overall, Gosse is a high end prospect coming into this year's draft, and really deserves more looks than he is getting. He is truly a hidden gem, and could be a massive hit for any team that grabs him.
