If you are looking for a forward to look at for the U18 draft, look no further than Whitby’s Tyson MacCoubrey. MacCoubrey is a proper two-way forward with high upside in all facets of the game. Offensively, MacCoubrey possesses a superb skating ability, which is noticed every time he steps foot on the ice. MacCoubrey lists as a C/W, and is great in the faceoff dot, while remaining in position depending on how he is shuffled around in the lineup. MacCoubrey has great anticipation and is often the first player to get to loose pucks, which is helped further by how well he sees the ice, as well as his naturally high compete level. MacCoubrey features his amazing shooting ability frequently, utilizing his quick release to shoot the puck directly off the pass, versus the traditional catch and wait method so many other forwards use. MacCoubrey features a strong defensive, transitional game, which has landed him a spot on the team's penalty killing unit. MacCoubrey is more than capable of taking a puck in the defensive zone and turning it into an offensive opportunity as well, utilizing his speed to drive the puck down the ice, resulting in many offensive zone entries. MacCoubrey is already a very strong forward with great core strength and is more than willing to take a hit to make a play along the boards, however he is looking to bulk up more over the course of this season in order to improve his physical play and ability to win battles even further.
