A stellar mobile defenceman, Quinton Burns is a brilliant puck mover with high athleticism. Burns has great hockey IQ, knowing when and where to move the puck, as well as excelling at finding the gaps in transition and hitting them hard while bringing the puck up the ice. Burns skating ability is fantastic, with speed and acceleration developed to a high level, Burns is one of the best puck moving defenceman in the 05’ Draft Class. With this great skating ability Burns shines when playmaking for his team, making heads up plays in the offensive zone as well as delivering beautiful first passes and outlet passes from the defensive zone. Burns plays a versatile game, able to be effective in a variety of situations throughout the course of the game. Burns has solid size and uses it well, making puck carriers pay with hard checks along the boards as well as in open ice. Burns is a strong player, not afraid to mix it up down low and win battles for the puck. Burns athleticism and pure mobile playmaking ability can cause a plethora of problems for his opposition, able to abuse mismatches and tire out opposing players as a result of the incredibly fast paced play of Burns. Moving forward Burns will look to improve his shooting ability, currently Burns relies on his teammates to get the puck in the net but Burns will need to increase his confidence shooting the puck, making himself a credible threat to score the puck. Burns is a top prospect to watch coming into the 2021 OHL Draft and has the build and the skillset to become not only an effective player, but a key piece to any team at the next level.
