Tayte Landry is a solid, big-bodied defenceman with a lot to offer. He is a tremendous skater who possesses elite edge work and technique which aids him in all areas of his game. He plays a strong game at both ends of the ice and earns the trust of his coaches. Starting in his own zone, Landry knows how to use his size to his advantage. He is not shy along the boards and gets in front of shots at close range. He sees the ice very well and knows where to be to block pucks at the right moments. Accompanying his frame is his long reach with his stick. Landry has a smart defensive stick and knows how to use it in puck battles. He uses his long reach and quick reflexes to poke away pucks and disrupt plays, often resulting in turnovers.

While Landry’s defensive game is quite strong, he also possesses strong offensive abilities. Landry sees the ice very well and can anticipate his teammates movements to execute great passes. His passing accuracy results in Landry constantly performing highly impressive stretch and lob passes. One aspect of his offensive game that he could work on is his shot. Landry has a decent shot however he could significantly benefit from shooting the puck more often. In addition, Landry is a strong powerplay quarterback as a result of his anticipation, skating, and playmaking abilities.
